ChiangMai is a pleasant town to spend time in and use as a base for trips further afield. As Thailand's second biggest city, it still retains a 'country town' flavour, despite the rampant growth of the last 10 years.

In the picture above it looks like it's time to get into some Thai sweets; rice, coconut, beans, jelly, mangoes and bananas. The Thais, as with all things culinary, have got this sussed. It's just the thing for the tropical climate. Mr Pumpy advises: 'Forget the donuts, Danish pastries and apple pies. Go Thai!'
